Sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, May 7, ipinahayag ni Sen. Risa Hontiveros ang kaniyang pagkabahala na posibleng may kaugnayan sa surveillance activities at hacking sa mga website ng gobyerno ang na-raid na Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) hub sa Bamban, Tarlac.
Matatandaang ni-raid ng mga awtoridad ang POGO company na Zun Yuan Tech Inc. sa Bamban noong Marso kung saan nadiskubre sa complex ang malawakang operasyon ng scam.
“I was very disturbed to hear that there is persuasive information from the intelligence community stating na itong Bamban complex na ito ay ginagamit for surveillance activities, at ang ilang nabalitang high profile cases of hacking of our own government websites ay traceable sa complex na ito,” ayon sa senadora.
Sa opening statement ni Hontiveros, sinabi rin niyang isa na ang bansa sa fastest growing hotspot for scam sa buong mundo.
